The Labour Party’s proposed tax increase on families with farms poses a serious threat to rural Britain. Today, alongside James Cartlidge MP and Nick Timothy, I welcomed farmers from across Suffolk and representatives of the NFU to Parliament to discuss the devastating impact these plans would have on our countryside.
While we were meeting in Westminster, tens of thousands of people marched through London to voice their anger at these proposals. It’s clear that farmers and rural communities across the country are united in their opposition.
Let’s hope Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves listen to these concerns and rethink this destructive policy. I will continue working with my colleagues and our farming community to ensure their voices are heard.
