As your local Member of Parliament for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, I am pleased to offer work experience placements to students living within the constituency. These placements provide a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the workings of local and national politics, and to develop practical skills in a supportive and professional environment.
Whether you are interested in public service, journalism, law, or simply want to better understand how decisions are made on behalf of our communities - from Debenham to Castle Hill, Framlingham to Great Blakenham - this experience is designed to be both informative and inspiring.
What You Will Be Doing
Students who join us for work experience may be asked to assist with a range of tasks, depending on their age, experience, and areas of interest:
Supporting with casework, where appropriate
Researching local or national issues
Taking press cuttings and monitoring local media
Drafting press releases on community events or campaigns
Assisting with general office duties and constituency correspondence
Responding to queries from constituents, by telephone or email
Helping to produce social media content, including drafting posts, designing graphics, and sharing updates about constituency work
You’ll work closely with my small, committed team in the constituency office, contributing meaningfully to the work we do every day on behalf of residents in parishes such as Otley, Wickham Market, Needham Market and beyond.
